Firstly, just to clarify, when I say Hemp Oil Extract I’m talking about cannabidiol or CBD. CBD is a compound found in the extracted oil of the hemp plant.

I had someone ask me a great question this week: What is the difference between Hemp Oil (that you buy at the grocery store) and hemp oil extract? It’s kind of confusing for sure, so this is a super question. Hemp oil that you buy in 16 or more ounce containers at the grocery store is derived from the seeds of the hemp plant and is kind of like sunflower oil or olive oil, it has no CBD or other cannabinoids. Hemp oil extract on the other hand, is the extract from the flowers or bud (where all the potent medicine is). There are various ways to extract the cannabinoids but the end result is the same, a very concentrated oil extract that is usually diluted in a carrier oil to varying degrees of potency. The pure concentrated hemp oil extract is highly potent and is used mainly by cancer patients and people needing a very strong medicine. Hemp Oil Extract also comes in smaller containers and is significantly more expensive than hemp oil.
